This Covid Hospital is associated with Govt. of Karnataka, Department of Health and Family welfare and Shree Jagadguru Gavisiddheshwara Ayurvedic Medical College, Koppal.

Currently, the world and especially India is drenched in the 2nd wave of Covid disease that has shattered and made the man on his knees. During this dreadful scenario, SJG Ayurvedic college and Hospital with encouragement of Swamiji and the support of SGVV Trust and in collaboration with Govt. of Karnataka, Health and Family welfare, District administration Koppal has set up two Covid dedicated facilities, one which is the 100 oxygen supportive bedded hospital and the other 200 bedded Covid care centre. For the former Gavimath’s Vriddashrama and for the latter ladies hostel have been utilised.
This bold step was taken instantly by the Swamiji given the fact that Covid patients’ weren’t getting enough beds and oxygen support. Most of the deaths unfortunately have had occurred because of the untimely treatment, bed and oxygen scarcity. Keeping in mind to troubleshoot these swamiji himself engaged in taking this great initiative to serve at his best.
Dr BS Savadi, Principal, SJGAMC, upon the guidelines prescribed by the Swamiji acted immediately and made sure that every infrastructure is well equipped and ready.
Both hospital and care centres have sufficient hot water supplies and sanitising counters for the doctors, patients and relatives. At least 4 ambulances will be ever ready to take care of the emergency patients who will be in need to be shifted to higher centre as in case.
Principal himself takes care of these hectic administrative works to ensure no stone unturned!.
Facilities
Vriddhashrama (now Gavimath Covid Hospital) is well equipped with 100 oxygen supported beds with HFNC and ICU and NICU support while ladies hostel (now Gavisiddheshwara Covid Care Centre) is equipped with 200 beds meant for only asymptomatic Covid positive patients. Among these 200 beds 10 beds are kept connected with oxygen support in emergency cases. The purpose of the is mainly serve as the quarantine center for those who tested positive despite no serious symptoms so that they quarantine themselves here and thereby contain the spread from being transmitting it to their family members and so on.
Unlike any other Covid hospital where only Covid management related facilities can be seen, here one gets to see various recreational activities for the patients apart from regular treatment including games (chess, caroms, table tennis etc), yoga and meditations.
As a matter of fact, Yoga and meditations definitely help cure the patients faster when combined with the other approaches. The breathing techniques involved in pranayama, kapalbati do refine the respiratory organs and repair those making Covid patients independent of oxygen. Hence, ascribing to these benefits of yoga therapy, Dr Prabhu CN, a swathavritta faculty teaches yoga to the patients every morning and the patients are seen actively participating in the programme.
One may see faster recovery of patients who are getting benefitted from these in addition with the treatment.
Comprehending that most deaths occur due to ignorance, untimely treatment and fear, the above activities are being implemented so as to make patients feel as if they are in their homes and not in hospital thus reducing the Hospital phobia.
The refreshing and sumptuous hot Ayush Kadha which is being prepared by using various fresh drugs having properties of Antipyretic, Anti inflammatory and rejuvenating will be distributed twice a day. This decoction has its own way in building up the immunity.
At Gavimath Prasada nilaya the food for the Covid patients will be prepared and served. The cooks and other workers meticulously take every precaution in preventing unhygienic conditions and contaminations. The delicious hot food is not just same to everyone. Understanding the needs of the patients, say for a diabetic patient there will be different food (based on the diest prescribed for the diabetic patients) while for the one who can’t be able to chew will have a different meals on plate (soft foods)
As said in Ayurveda, it’s not just the medicines that are administered here but also due importance will be given to Ahaara and vihara. This perhaps may be the one of the solid contributing factor in enhancing the progress of the patients and thus reducing their stay in the hospital.
Swamiji himself visits the hospitals everyday reassuring the patients which itself is biggest boost the patients in this part. The divine blessings of him and his gentle and warm care quashes away the most of the ailment
To put it simply, what has been not done here?
From Yoga to Physiotherapy, from healthy food to recreational games, from Ayurveda to Allopathy, every other thing has been taken care of!.
On the top of the Patients have positive vibrations filled by the divine blessings of Swamiji that pours energy into the nerves!
